LIGiclee Printing Service: Fine Giclee Prints for Artists, Galleries, and Even Broadway

By Christian Burney

In 2001, artist and scientist Nadia Mierau founded LIGiclee Printing Service, a printing and graphic design company. The company lends its services to artists, publishers, art dealers, galleries, and photographers from all over the state of New York, the nation, and even overseas.

"We specialize in archival fine art giclee printing, high resolution direct scanning, web and graphic design, and consulting," says Mierau. "We love working with artists and take pride being a part of the international fine art industry."

"Giclee" refers to any sort of high quality inkjet print, though when printmaker Jack Duganne coined it in 1991, it referred specifically to any print made with an IRIS printer.

LIGiclee's web design services allow artists, galleries and publishers to strengthen their online presence. Galleries can advertise their latest exhibition and artists can host photos of their proudest pieces on their own website. "Being artists ourselves, we can provide assistance to our clients in digital enhancement, physical embellishing and varnishing their giclee prints on canvas and fine art paper," Mierau says. "We know artists! We serve artists!"

LIGiclee has produced plenty of remarkable prints. The company has produced nearly 100 prints of acclaimed Beatles artist, Shannon, which currently reside along the walls of the Beatles-themed hotel, Hard Day's Night, in Liverpool, UK. This work has been televised on several talk shows, including The Tonight Show, David Letterman, and Good Morning America.

"A few years ago," Mierau says, "we had the privilege to manufacture 22 prints for a Broadway play titled 'Is He Dead?' by Mark Twain." The play focuses on a fictional reimagining of Jean-Francois Millet, a 19th century painter and artist. In the play, Millet stages his death in an attempt to increase the value of his artwork. It's a farcical, satiric romp that deals with questions of greed, fame, and artistic value.

LIGiclee is located only 30 minutes away from Manhattan in Freeport, Long Island.
